Fate of surface proteins of rabbit polymorphonuclear leukocytes during phagocytosis. II. Internalization of proteins
To study the fate of external membrane proteins during phagocytosis, rabbit peritoneal neutrophils were labeled by enzymatic iodination. Iodine was incorporated into at least 13 proteins ranging in size from approximately 250,000 to 18,000 daltons as judged from autoradiography of gels after SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis of labeled cells. The major contractile proteins of neutrophils, ...
متن کاملFate of Surface Proteins of Rabbit
The distribution of surface proteins during phagocytosis by rabbit peritoneal polymorphonuclear leukocytes was studied to determine whether the proteins of the phagocytic vesicles of these differentiated cells were representative of the entire set of plasma membrane proteins . Phagocytosis of bovine serum albumin-diisodecylphthalate emulsion by lactoperoxidase-iodinated rabbit neutrophils was l...
متن کاملfunctional study of p0 proteins of two cereal yellow dwarf viruses (cydv-rpv and cydv-rps) and identification of their cellular partner
Reversible phagocytosis in rabbit polymorphonuclear leukocytes.
We have studied the fate of inert phagocytized particles in rabbit neutrophils. Neutrophils release significant quantities of preingested oil emulsion. Roughly 50% of an ingested load is released in 40 min at 37 degrees C. By electron microscopy the process of release appears to be by exocytosis: particles appear extruded through a network of processes often accompanied by membranous vesicles. ...
متن کاملAntibiotic proteins of human polymorphonuclear leukocytes.
Nine polypeptide peaks with antibiotic activity were resolved from human polymorphonuclear leukocyte azurophil granule membranes. All but 1 of the 12 constituent polypeptides were identified by N-terminal sequence analysis. Near quantitative recovery of protein and activity permitted an assessment of the contribution of each species to the overall respiratory-burst-independent antimicrobial cap...
